Team Evolution made up mainly of pupils from last years national finalists (team raptor), took part in this years regional event held at Corus Steel in Scunthorpe on Nov 6th. They put up a terrific fight to try and win through to the nationals for a second year running but, despite picking up a trophy along the way, were unfortunately defeated by an underperforming car that proved to be in need of further testing and refinement.
Judges were highly impressed with the professional way in which members of Team Evolution presented themselves and especially the way that sponsors had been engaged in the process of preparing the team for the finals, so much so that they won the trophy for best sponsorship and marketing within the Yorkshire and Humberside region for F1 in Schools.
Naturally disappointed by their failure to reach the nationals but not perturbed, Team Evolution are already planning to get involved again next year by competing in the event as a sixth form team. They have proved fantastic ambassadors for Salendine Nook HS and have developed their enterprise, business and personal skills immensely whilst taking part.
Accompanying Team Evolution to this years regionals was our best performing PRIMARY School team who had great success at the pilot event for this category last Easter. Team Lindley Lightening Bolts had a taste of the big stage when they had to pit their skills against other primary schools from across the region for a place in the inaugral national final to be held next year. They performed very well but without any trophy to show for this, however, they are very keen to have a go as a Key Stage 3 team representing Salendine Nook HS next year.
Salendine Nook HS has competed in the F1 programme for the last 5 years and has had great success; 2006 - Team Elite are winners of Best Engineered Car at the Yorkshire & Humberside Regional Finals (Y&HRF) 2007 - Team Phoenix are winners of the Y&HRF KS4 category and represented the region in the National Finals in Jan 2008 2008 - Team Raptor are winners of the Y&HRF KS4 category and represented the region in the National Finals in Jan 2009 2009 - Team Evolution are winners of the Y&HRF Best Sponsorship and Marketing of an F1 team
