The Lionheart Challage - Getting to grips with the business world.

All pupils in Year 10 were presented with an opportunity to participate in the prestigous Lionheart Challenge giving them a real feel of the world of business. Working in teams alongside business coaches, pupils were set the task of conceptualising, designing, financing, marketing and presenting their idea for a product or service to meet specific theme ( promoting healthy lifestyes amongst young people / promoting a positive environmental impact in the local area ). Awards were presented for the teams demonstrating best finance structure, best team skills, best presentation skills and overall winners of the challenge.

Enterprise Day 18th Nov 2008 PDF Print E-mail
On Tues 18th Nov, 15 G&T Design Technology students spent the day on a CAD enterprise day. During this day their learnt how to draw 3D objects in ‘Google Sketch Up’ and how to edit photos using ‘Photoshop Elements’. The pupils were split into teams of three and given a different area of the school to draw up in 3D to scale. They then took photos of the sides of the building, edited them to erases any unwanted objects (e.g. tress, shadows, cars, shrubs, bins etc), then applied on to the sides of the buildings. Once each area was complete, they were put together and imported into ‘Google Earth’.

Year 9 Parents Information Options Evening 2010 PDF Print E-mail
A successful options information evening for parents of Year 9 pupils was held in the Salendine Hall on Tuesday 26th January with just over 300 parents / carers attending. The event was designed to explain the option’s process as well as the content and structure of the many courses on offer at Key Stage 4.
In addition to subject displays the event was supported by representatives of Huddersfield’s three main Further Education providers – Greenhead College, New College and Kirklees College. They were able to give advice on progression routes as well as explaining the variety of course on offer in Higher Education once pupils progress onwards. The school’s personal career’s advisor Catherine Ladd was also in attendance and outlined her role and the role of Kirklees and Calderdale careers service.
Pupils now begin the task of selecting their Key Stage 4 choices and preparing for the next phase of their education journey. Click read more to view the powerpoint.
