Good overall 3

Dear Parent / Carer,

I am sure that you are aware that the school had a full OFSTED inspection on 11th and 12th February. The inspection report is now published and is available on the school website at www.snhs.kirklees.sch.uk. It will also appear on the OFSTED website on or before Friday 4th March.

I am absolutely delighted that we have been graded as "Good" in all categories and therefore our overall effectiveness is "Good".

The report highlighted many of the strengths of the school and particularly stressed the improvements that have taken place since the last inspection in 2013.

The following comments from the inspection report highlight the successes that are evident:-

  • Teaching, learning and assessment are good overall. In the vast majority of lessons there are strong relationships between pupils and adults. This leads to pupils working hard and trying their best
  • As a result, pupils are now making good progress
  • Outcomes for pupils are good
  • The curriculum meets pupils’ needs and aspirations. Pupils therefore achieve well, and all continue into either education, training and/or employment when they leave school
  • The behaviour of pupils is good. Pupils enjoy coming to school
  • Pupils develop into confident and mature young people. They are proud of their school, and welcoming of visitors
  • Pupils of different races, religions and cultures relate well to each other. Leaders work successfully to promote a school environment in which pupils from a large number of different countries relate harmoniously with one another
  • Pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is good. Pupils are well prepared for life in modern Britain
  • Staff are proud to work in the school, and their morale is strong because senior leaders involve them in contributing to the ambition to improve continuously the school’s performance.

The Governors have worked hard with myself and the senior team to ensure the school has moved forward. We are determined to continue this journey of improvement to ensure the very best outcomes for all students.

Finally, I would like to thank all the parents who responded so positively to the OFSTED questionnaire and to the students who impressed the Inspectors with their courtesy, consideration and contributions to the whole inspection process. They were outstanding.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs C G Spencer

Head Teacher
